If there is any music that can be described as happy, it is undoubtedly Irish music. Some of the stories of the old Irish songs contain rough seafaring stories or even criminal plots, but everything always turns out well in the end. And in the end, life isn’t always easy, we all know that, but that doesn’t mean we can’t tell these stories with happy music.
The group Cúpla Focal has been active in Prague for a couple of years, although its members are musicians from all over the world (Ireland, UK, Japan, US, CZ), and they have been performing in a number of Prague clubs.
Keiko Yamamoto, a singer with an ornamental guitar and a distinctive voice, is originally from Japan, but remains in Prague to the great joy of music fans.
Maurice O’Hanlon, comes from Kerry, Ireland, but has also lived in Prague for a couple of years. You can see him with a guitar, but sometimes with a mandolin, and he sings.
Rob Kryah moved to Prague for work from Great Britain. He plays the cajon and sometimes we can enjoy his singing as well.
Steve Starkweather, is the overseas part of the group (US). He plays the banjo and harmonica and sometimes manages to dance with the audience while he is playing, which is brilliant.
Suzie Knuckey brings the cheerful vibes to the music with her violin. Her style of playing radiates energy, good mood and optimism.
